THREE OF CUPS
Three of Cups w/ Seashell encourages you to gather in nature with your brothers + sisters to acknowledge the shifting of seasons. By joining together with others who see the world like you, you amplify your intentions, creating a safe container for expression of your authentic self. Sing your praises for the cycles of life. Send wishes of well-being for all those suffering from loss. Bow to your dearly departed and all those who've walked the Earth before you. Through sacred chant, prayer, and poems shared amongst community, you uplift your spirits and open a portal for deep healing.
Day 16. The Hanged Man asks, "What does surrender mean to you?" Surrender is staying in drinking tea when all your friends are out dancing. Ok, Grandma. But no really, I'll explain.👵🏼☕️ Surrender isn't about forcing yourself to stay in on the weekends, or challenging yourself to stop drinking alcohol, or to really push yourself to do anything you don't want to do. Surrender is about slowing down enough to listen to your heart.
The Hanged Man teaches us how to SURRENDER. You'll notice bc he's upside down, his HEART hangs over his HEAD. Whatever situation you find yourself stuck in, take a moment to drop down into your heart, and see what she has to say. If you start coming up with rational reasons, this is your HEAD, not your HEART. For just today, allow yourself to LET GO completely. What is it you truly desire?
This can be terrifying (at first). It's super vulnerable to drop out of our head and fall into our heart bc it may call for a RADICAL SHIFT, (quit your job, end a relationship, stop drinking). It may call for an END to the life you are so "comfortable" with. THE HANGED MAN (12) is preceded by DEATH (13) and when you sit still with your heart long enough, you're in for a COMPLETE TRANSFORMATION.
I pulled the Three of Cups. She is a card of coming together with friends to celebrate. Seeing her REVERSED, it's looks like they pour out their drinks. A big part of SURRENDERING for me is directly linked to not drinking and going out "celebrating." Last week I tried to see friends @boy.radio and @futurefelix perform, but what started out as 10pm showtime got pushed back to 1am, and I just couldn't. 😕
My choice to go to bed early and be sober isn't to punish myself. I have to remind myself of that. Even though it feels isolating at times, my choice comes from dropping into my heart. It's opening me up to new ideas and creativity in ways I never thought possible.
The Hanged Man's upside-down. In yoga, when practicing an INVERSION, this allows a fresh blood supply to re-irrigate the brain. Because he's slowed down enough to put his heart first, his brain is crystal clear w/ clarity. He comes up with new ways of achieving what once seemed foolish.
