My dear child, slow down. You are right where you are meant to be. There's nothing or no one you need to make you feel more whole. That which you pursue, already exists within. ✨Open yourself up to teachers of all ages and experience. They'll remind you of this. Tune into the messages the world around you so readily offers. When you do, you practice a deeper sense of humility and trust in your own inner-voice. This voice is your lantern, shedding light to a path most aligned with your purpose here on Earth. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ ✨✨✨✨
Day 12 of #bkfoolschallenge. The Hermit: a message from your inner-elder: The Hermit. ✨So cool to receive the Hermit to answer his own question. Above is the message I received. Checking in with my inner-elder is always such a powerful practice, as it offers a grounding, wise perspective. ✨Since the Hermit teaches us to slow down, today also offers us a reminder to really sit with the cards we pull. When doing one card daily readings, we're given a unique opportunity to meditate on the message. It's such an awesome change of pace from the more immediate exchange of giving readings to a client or loved one. When I pull a card of reflection for myself, I meditate on the question for awhile before I even pull, offering it up to Source. After I've received answers without drawing a card, I then shuffle my deck and draw one. I gaze at it for awhile. I acknowledge what feelings and thoughts it brings up, without judgement. If it doesn't make 100% sense to me at first, or if it seems to completely contradict what I was receiving before pulling a card, I set the card out on my desk and gently go about my morning. You'll find that throughout the day, just by the card's simple presence of being out, you'll receive deeper insights and downloads. My favorite way to meditate on the message of the card is to even take a silent walk around the neighborhood in honor of the card, opening myself up to it's wisdom. ✨Whatever rituals you like to partake in for these daily questions, the Hermit encourages you to take your time. Through this stillness, you'll tap back into your inner-wisdom. 🤘✨
What does Spirit mean to me?
Spirit is the life force that connects us all. We feel it most in times when we are brought together. Sports bring humans together, "team spirit." Holidays, "Christmas spirit." Best friends help us feel this connection, "kindred spirit." And drinking alcohol most DEFINITELY connects us and lifts our "spirits." (That's where it gets its name right?) But how do we CONNECT to this eternal source when we are ALONE? Whenever I find myself feeling lonely, I take it as an opportunity to check in. What is it that I'm missing?
The Hermit reminds us that we each experience individual journeys. He leaves behind the material world to search for something deeper, more eternal. It can be painful and scary to go into these dark and cold states, but notice the Hermit's lantern. We see here a star radiating warmth and light. The star is six-pointed like that of the heart chakra symbol, the center of love and connection.
The past 6 months I've been on a journey of inwardness by not drinking alcohol. Feelings of loneliness have surfaced more during this time than ever, even when surrounded by a group of friends. I'm still trying to understand and embody the wisdom of the hermit, and at times it's a struggle, but I know that the hermit helps us transform LONLINESS into ALONENESS- the presence of spirit in oneself.
By spending time alone, and not dwelling on the loneliness, this is when we CONNECT to SPIRIT. Think about what you do when you're alone. For me, it's normally singing. Even as a young kid, I'd swing for hours in the back yard just singing away. Now, when I'm walking dogs along the Hudson River, or when the roommates not home, I'm still singing. And the best part, it doesn't matter if I sound good bc I am alone. This to me is SPIRIT...that something that brings you overflowing joy, reminds you that you are alive and connected even you are all alone. Remind yourself of this connection. Keep it with you always in your heart. This is your lantern. "Be a light unto yourself."
