FOUR OF CUPS
The Four of Cups paired w/ Tiger's Eye Rune (symbol for health) indicates a need to set clear boundaries in partnerships. You may be undertaking quite a bit emotionally at this time, so it's important for those you spend one-on-one time with to know how much you are capable of taking on. Gift yourself with adequate alone time. This will restore energy and health so you may be fully present w/ the other. Be confident + straight-forward with your needs during this transit. This will soothe tensions in relationships, promoting harmony and balance.
How can I deepen my connection with my intuition? 4 of Cups ✨A simple message + reminder. (And one I am quite resistant too) ✨Commit to sitting down in meditation. Gift yourself space from all the beautiful distractions of life. Structure this into a consistent practice. The ritual of coming home to yourself reconnects you to your innate calmness and brings clarity of mind. Through daily practice, you will inherently open yourself up to receiving deep insights.
For those of you who are sensitive + intuitive, you may find that you attract others who suffer. If you feel yourself closing off, relax, it's for good reason. It's not because you're a cold-hearted person. It's because there's a beautiful gem inside worth protecting. Give yourself permission to take a break from healing others. Learn when to say NO. When you take care of yourself first, you establish clear, healthy boundaries that allow you to fully be there for the other. This sacred container creates space for long lasting + sustainable bonds, a tribe or family you can call your own.
THE EMPRESS asks, "Where does the Divine Feminine reside in my life?" You can paint your nails, put on a dress, dance around to Spice Girls, read tarot, practice yoga, and do whatever else might be deemed as "feminine" in our culture, but this does not make you FEMININE. It just makes you FUN (and someone I'd probably wanna hang out with ...) but not feminine. Sorry. 😂💅 True femininity is found in the qualities of the open and balanced YIN CHAKRAS (sacral, heart, third eye). How do these chakras when fully balanced manifest in the world?
Sacral- healthy boundaries, graceful movements, emotional intelligence.
Heart- compassion, ability to equally give and receive, self-love.
Third-eye- intuition, imagination, good memory recall.
So, where do these qualities reside in my life? 4 of Cups Reversed.
4 of Cups is what I call the HANGOVER card. (The 3 of cups shows three women cheers-ing their cups, perhaps tequila, and the 4 of Cups shows someone pouting, refusing a cup, like the morning after when the smell of tequila makes you wanna throw up). Too much of a good thing can cause disgust, boredom, apathy. When it shows up reversed its usually a sign of HEALING THE HANGOVER.
I'm reading the 4 of Cups Reversed as moving from an EXCESS in my divine feminine, back to a more balanced state.
Excess in the yin chakra centers manifest in the world as:
Sacral- poor boundaries, sexual addiction, strong emotions
Heart- codependency, jealousy, overly sacrificing
Third eye- obsession, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, nightmares
Where does my creativity need more nurturing? The 4 of Cups. "Why don't you go to the garden and eat worms," my mom used to say to me whenever I'd sulk about something petty. The Four of Cups may at first seem like a "spoiled brat" because there's so much beauty and love (as symbolized by the cups) being offered at this time. But a gratitude practice is the last thing this person may actually benefit from.
It is okay to sulk or be depressed from time to time. Just because you're surrounded by love, doesn't mean you will always be open to accepting it. The reality of the situation is... you are deeply HURT. The four of cups shows a situation in which someone is shutting down emotionally. If you feel yourself closed off, relax, it's for good reason. It's not because you're cold-hearted. It's because there's a beautiful gem inside worth protecting.
This card reminds us to take time and space to be alone. Through reconnecting to the heart and mind, we can reevaluate our situation. This will allow the face to soften and the crossed-arms protecting the heart to fall to the side. Then, when the time is right a new found sense of gratitude and joy for living will arrive (like a gift handed to you from out of the sky). In terms of how this relates to where my creativity needs more nurturing, I'm seeing it as a sign to watch tv or something...which I never give myself permission to do. If I don't feel like writing or playing the banjo, then I don't feel like it. Creativity needs rest and space sometimes too. Ok bye. TV time.
